A bold step taken in 1959, when it was difficult to import, let alone produce, plastic raw materials in Turkey, created Ege Yıldız and Egeplast, the pioneers of the sector.  The entrepreneurship of the late Mazhar Zorlu, a doyen businessman who started his business life with contracting services and realized many important projects such as Piyale Factory and Varyant Road in and around Izmir, played a major role. Having first entered the plastics industry with the production of pharmaceutical cylinders and kitchenware, Mazhar Zorlu founded Ege Yıldız Plastik Pazarlama ve Sanayi Anonim Şirketi in 1959 to produce plastic pipes, fittings and by-products.

In 1973, as a result of the need for modernization and technology, a new restructuring was made and Egeplast was established. While Egeplast A.Ş. carried out production, Ege Yıldız undertook domestic sales and marketing activities through dealer distribution and project holders, as it still does today.
Continuously investing and going public in 1996, Egeplast has always been a pioneer with its 85 thousand tons of plastic processing capacity and the most advanced technology it uses. It has reached a wide range of products made of PVC, PE, PP, PPRC, from small plastic diameters used in buildings to large diameter pipes used in infrastructure, especially in clean water distribution, sewage, telecommunications, natural gas, drainage, infrastructure and similar areas. While realizing this, it broke many grounds in the sector. Today, Egeplast continues its production in its giant factory of 80 thousand square meters, 55 thousand square meters of which is closed area, in İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone.
