Today, the Turkish textile and raw materials industry has competitive advantages in international markets, particularly in terms of its technology, extensive product range and the quality, design and creativity of its products. In addition to its well-developed structure, it employs a highly skilled labor force. When the exports of the textile and raw materials sector are analyzed on the basis of countries, to which we exported the most in 2021 were USA (with 12.9% share), Germany (with 7.7% share), Italy (with 7.25 share), United Kingdom (with 4.8% share) and Bulgaria (with 3.4% share), respectively. The Turkish home textile sector with its high potential in the export market and its wide range of products and superior quality is also an important export earner for the country. The sector exports about 60% of its production. In 2021, total exports of the industry reached to 2,9 billion dollars by increasing the rate of 27,9%. The most exported product groups are towels and bathrobes (34,7% share), bed sheets (21,7% share) and furnishing and curtain fabrics (12,1% share), respectively. Clothing is also an important part of the textile sector. In 2021 the total value of clothing exports was US$ 18.3 billion. Approximately 80% of the clothing exported is cotton clothing. Knitted clothing and accessories, with an export value of US$ 10.78 billion, had a share of 58.93% in total clothing exports, and woven clothing had a share of 41,07% with a value of US $ 7.51 billion in 2021. T-shirts and pullovers are the most important export products in knitted clothing sector. Exports of t-shirts and pullovers were US$ 2.7 billion and US$ 2.61 billion respectively in 2021. In addition, as the second largest manufacturer in the world, Türkiye’s hosiery exports amounted US$ 1.3 billion in 2021.
